These centers place students in a challenging and mentally stimulating academic environment. Students who wish to apply must meet at least one of three requirements. WebThe Palms Gifted/High Ability Magnet has been repeatedly designated as a Model of Excellence by LAUSD. This is the top category. For a magnet school to be a Model of Excellence at least 75% of its students had to score at the proficient or advanced level in both English and Math on California Standards Tests.

WebPortola Highly Gifted Magnet, established in 1979, shares the campus of Portola Middle School.
